Does Continental Currency provide Canadian bitcoin exchange?

Bitcoin transactions are not currently available at Continental. However in response to client demand Continental is investigating the possibility of offering cyber currency services in the future.

Bitcoin exchange rate

Cyber currency has shown promise as a foreign exchange, international transfer, investment, and payment solution. Unfortunately, Bitcoin’s exchange rate does not currently provide enough stability to ensure the reliable foreign exchange services that Continental Currency Exchange clients expect.

In theory clients may purchase Bitcoin in CAD, send it internationally for a small fee, and then convert it into a different currency. In practice, the volatility surrounding the price results in far greater uncertainty than traditional currency exchange or international transfer options.

Our concerns and future outlook

Bitcoin and other cyber currency are exciting technologies with many legitimate uses. Unfortunately, they are often used for illicit purposes, and we believe that there is not yet sufficient demand to justify offering any cyber currency services. As Bitcoin evolves we expect to see an increase in mainstream applications. This will necessitate a trusted Canadian provider of cyber currency exchange services.

• Using block-chain technology to offer clients greater privacy
• More efficient and inexpensive online foreign exchange
• Online international transfers
• Bitcoin as an investment product
• International cash withdrawals and POS transactions.

Continental Currency Exchange Bitcoin Position

Continental Currency Exchange has no immediate plans to incorporate the use of any cyber currency into our existing currency exchange services. However, our commitment to provide our clients with the best rates and service means that we will continue to investigate all foreign exchange technology. This commitment has already led to a number of innovative new services, including EFTs, Private Client Services, and future products and services still in the developmental stage.
